Come experience skot deeming (akamrghosty)’s sound sculpture performances created during his residency this summer at WAMP.  The first, Resonance: Ghost Songs creates long, slow drones using hanging metal bowls, contact microphones and cellphone motors.  Vocal accompaniment by special guest artist Natasha Duchene. In the second piece, Wireless // Filament, skot will play a live sound set using homemade radio equipment, a large scale antennae, lamps and lights all playing with references to Victorian spiritualism and early radiophonic experimentation.

Mrghosty (aka skot deeming) is an interdisciplinary artist, curator, researcher and doctoral student in Concordia University’s Individualized Program in the Humanities.  As a new media art and game curator in galleries and the new arcade, as well a researcher at Concordia’s TAGlab, skot draws upon a wealth of practical experience and theoretical knowledge while investigating the intersections between gamer cultures, hacker cultures and new media art practices.  These investigations take on many forms: academic writing, arcades, salons and exhibitions, live audio visual performances, installations, audio composition, and more.  To read skot’s blog about his residency, check out: http://ghostinyzf.tumblr.com/
