Equipment Technician – Part-time

Job Description

PURPOSE OF POSITION

Equipment Technician is responsible for overseeing all operations of WAMP’s production equipment library and services.

Equipment Technician is a part-time position the incumbent reports to the Executive Director.

JOB DUTIES

Equipment Rentals:

  • Consult with the membership base on their equipment needs;
  • Provide quick basic tutorials on equipment use and best practices, and best practices;
  • Ensure renters have adequate insurance or the ability to cover equipment replacement costs if lost, stolen, or damaged;
  • Manage equipment booking. Arrange pickup and drop of time;
  • Monitor the state of equipment incoming and outgoing.

Billing and Payment:

  • Process billing and payments for rentals;
  • Invoice and payment record management.

Equipment Maintenance:

  • Proper security and storage of equipment;
  • Keep accurate records and maintain an up dated equipment inventory;
  • Maintain and repair equipment as far as possible. 
  • Assess the need for outside repairs when necessary and contact the repair facility.

Other:

  • Assist other WAMP staff with technical needs when required.
  • Facilitating media equipment workshops when programmed.
  • Work with other WAMP staff to coordinate membership services annually.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Strong knowledge of film, sound, lighting, photography, and other digital media equipment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and superior customer service abilities;
  • Self-starting, able to work with little supervision;
  • Excellent organizational abilities;
  • Good working knowledge of computers and office software (i.e. Google Drive, Word, Excel);
  • Physically capable of lifting and handling equipment.

Technical Assistant Intern – Part-time, Paid

JOB DESCRIPTION

PURPOSE OF POSITION

Technical Assistant Intern is responsible for overseeing all operations of WAMP’s production equipment library and services.

This internship opportunity is presented as part of the “Digital Skills for Youth” program coordinated by the Independent Media Arts Alliance and funded by the Department of Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada.

Technical Assistant Intern is a part-time position the incumbent reports to the Executive Director.

JOB DUTIES

  • Assisting with various workshops and film-related events both in the pre-production phase and in-person events.
  • Assist with basic communications regarding event planning and travel logistics on various projects.
  • Assist with maintaining our web presence by updating our website and social accounts;
  • Assisting our Technical Director with the equipment rental operations.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and superior customer service abilities;
  • Strong communication skills with coworkers, stakeholders, and workshop participants;
  • Excellent organizational abilities;
  • Good working knowledge of computers and office software (i.e. Google Drive);
  • Physically capable of lifting and handling equipment.

Workshop Facilitator – Part-time, Contract

Job Description

PURPOSE OF POSITION

Workshop Facilitator will work closely with the Executive Director and Equipment Technician to schedule, plan, and execute workshops using WAMP’s robust equipment library.

Workshop Facilitator is a part-time, contract position the incumbent reports to the Executive Director.

JOB DUTIES

  • Liaise with WAMP staff, the membership base, and previous workshop participants to schedule upcoming events;
  • Provide accurate curriculum and descriptions of each workshop day;
  • Detail deliverables and outcomes expected for each registrant; and
  • Work collaboratively with participants toward a final goal. 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Strong knowledge of film, sound, lighting, photography, and other digital media equipment;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and superior customer service abilities;
  • Self-starting, able to work with little supervision;
  • Excellent organizational abilities;
  • Good working knowledge of computers and office software (i.e. Google Drive, Word, Excel);
  • Physically capable of lifting and handling equipment; and
  • Must provide a Vulnerable Sector Check upon hiring.
